Melanie Watts, 47, is the mother of four adoptive children, ages ranging from 2-7, and is the Deputy Chief for the Bowling Green Police Department. Watts has worked at the BGPD for 23 years and is currently in charge of patrol, all of dispatch, and the Criminal Investigations Division (CID). Her daughters all share the same birth mother, whom Watts came in contact with seven years ago while called out on duty as a police officer. Since then, Watts has officially adopted Lexie, Abby, Ella, and Jules as her legal daughters. The day ends with snuggles and tickle fights for the Watts family.

Watts and her daughter Ella, 4, cuddle on the living room couch after the nightly bath routine.

Watts helps Ella put on her shoes to get dressed and ready for school while her youngest daughter Jules, 2, gives her a hug on March 26, 2018.

Once the kids are ready to wait for the school bus, Watts finds time for herself to finish putting her uniform on.

With the help of their mom and grandmother, Lexie, 7, and Abby, 5, board their school bus on March 26, 2018.

After dinner, the girls all decided to put on temporary tattoos of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Abby chose to put her tattoo on her stomach.

Watts asks her oldest daughter Lexie if she would like to add special conditioner to her hair before bed time. Lexie’s biological father is African-American.

On April 18, 2018, Watts speaks to her real estate agent, Traci Schandel, about the second house they toured and if it meets the needs for her large family. A room for each daughter is an important requirement for Watts in the search for a new home.

Abby leads her family in prayer before dinner on March 26, 2018.

"I will eat after my dog, but not after my kids," Watts said, as she lets her three-legged rescue dog, Katie, lick ice cream off her spoon on March 25, 2018.

Watts playfully grabs Lexie's jaw in effort to get her attention while they snuggle and watch television before bedtime.

After their nightly bath routine, Melanie Watts picks out her daughters outfits for the next school day on March 25, 2018. "It's chaos," Watts said.

Watts takes a small break to spend time with her youngest daughter Jules, by drawing with her in a notebook on April 12, 2018. Watts had foot surgery on April 10, 2018 to take out screws in her right foot, which put her in a boot for a couple weeks.
